Club's 20th and Kevin’s 90th

This dual celebration is being organised by the Club in the form of a land-based ‘camping cruise’ in a private paddock at Lakeside Caravan Park, Llangorse Lake, Nr Brecon, starting on Friday 30th May 2008 and finishing on Sunday 1st June 2008. The site is enclosed by hedges, and has 20 formal pitches (which we can jumble up to make more) with electricity hook-ups available and its own hygiene block. It looks out over the common in front of the lake, where the club is providing some pre-booked water craft for Saturday – a Wayfarer, 2 Toppers, and 3 Canadian Canoes or equivalent. Extra craft can be booked (preferably in advance) on the number below.

Llangorse has several pubs, riding centres, a climbing wall centre (www.activityuk.com), good cycling (hire available from site) and walks, and proximity to the book centre of Hay. The Hay Festival takes place from 22nd May to 1st June – see www.hayfestival.com/wales for details. This does mean B&B should be booked early!

It is possible to stay on the site prior to the Friday, but the event itself will start with a drinks reception (?Pimms) on Friday evening. Saturday can be spent enjoying the boats, activities and facilities, and then we will host a group barbecue on Saturday evening. We will have to vacate the site during Sunday unless you wish to arrange to stay longer.

We have yet to finalise costs, but it should be less than £20 per night for a family of four. We are asking for a completed booking form with a deposit of £10 per adult and £5 per child aged 5 – 15 (under 5s are free). The balance for the camping will be collected on the Anniversary weekend when exact costs can be finalised. The barbeque will cost £10 per adult and £5 per child (payable on the night), but will include wine and soft drinks, and, best of all, a barrel or two of draft bitter. We will have a central shelter.

We will need to know what equipment you intend to bring – tent / camper / caravan / awning, etc. so we can fit everyone in. The first 20 pitch bookings can be guaranteed space in the Orchard paddocks where there are electrical hook-ups at extra cost (£3 per night per pitch in 2006). We hope to be able to fit more in, but there is an overflow field nearby (tents only).

We will set up a memories board to celebrate good times in the Club and good times with Kevin. So even if you can’t come, please endeavour to send 2 (maximum) photos of your favourite Penguin moments, and a memory (ideally on a sheet of A4) – we will display them on Saturday. Let's make this is a really stupendous party – that means lots of people coming!
